My name is Celine Cortes and I am representing the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE), an organization committed to serving and supporting our fellow Latina/o/x scholars in all areas of graduate study. We are excited to share with you information about our Graduate Student Fellows’ Program (GSFP), which is open to Latina/o/x students who are pursuing a doctoral degree. We thus would appreciate you sharing this information with your networks.


The AAHHE Graduate Student Fellows Program’s (GSFP) primary goal is to prepare Latina/o/x doctoral scholars for successful careers in academia; the GSFP also provides support to Latina/o/x scholars interested in pursuing careers within administration and policy in post-secondary education. Towards this end, program sub-goals include to:


1.    Provide strategies to assist scholars in achieving their educational and professional goals

2.    Provide constructive feedback on graduate student fellows’ research

3.    Build community and network with other Latina/o/x scholars


Our GSFP offers professional and academic development among a small cohort of scholars who are honored at our yearly AAHHE National conference. The application is due Friday, July 2nd at 5PM (PST). Please note that this is an updated due date and may not be reflected on the AAHHE website, but July 2nd at 5PM PST is the correct deadline.


We find it necessary to share the information about the GSFP application widely because it is an excellent opportunity for those chosen to not only connect and build community with other fellow Latina/o/x doctoral students across the nation, but to also gain knowledge about academia during and beyond graduate school through the workshops that are offered exclusively to our graduate students fellows. The fellows will also receive many opportunities for growth including a presentation of their research with individual feedback from a Latina/o/x faculty coach during their time in the program.
