We are looking to add 1-2 Education and Prevention Outreach graduate student externs to our University Counseling Services (UCS) staff for the 2021-2022 academic year. The hour breakdown and details of the externship are listed below. Application review will begin on Monday August 2nd, and applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis until filled.

     *   Provide education and prevention outreach services including workshops, presentations, and programs (including preparation time) - 8-10 hours
     *   Meetings
                                                               i.      Outreach Team Meeting - 1 hour weekly
                                                             ii.      Individual supervision - 1 hour weekly/biweekly
                                                           iii.      UCS All-staff meetings - 1 hour weekly

     *   Total of 11-12 hour weekly time commitment

Note for psychology doctoral students:
Outreach presentations provided as part of this externship can be recorded as "program development/outreach programming" hours for applications for doctoral internship in psychology on the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship (AAPI) form.

Qualifications for this externship include the following:

  *   Ability to design, implement and evaluate education and prevention programs, especially programs relevant to underserved populations;
  *   Demonstrated initiative, creativity, autonomy, and leadership qualities relevant to developing and implementing education and prevention outreach programs;
  *   Ability to relate to and develop rapport with students, campus partners, and UCS staff;
  *   Demonstrated commitment to multicultural organizational development and multicultural competence;
  *   Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills including written and oral communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  1.  A copy of your CV, including at least 2 references.
  2.  A cover letter expressing why you are interested in a specialized outreach externship at University Counseling Services, including 1-2 goals that you have for the externship experience. It would also be beneficial to include information about strengths and growth areas. Please note any experience you have had in providing educational workshops and training, prevention programs, and outreach initiatives.
