*_Duck Nest Wellness Center Recruiting Volunteers:_*

Peer Wellness Advocates are students who are interested in helping
promote wellness and general well-being on our campus. Being a Peer
Wellness Advocate (PWA) involves being a resource for students by
staffing the center for a two hour shift each week and being part of an
outreach group that focuses on a specific topic, as well as the
potential for special volunteer opportunities such as presenting to
groups on different topics (ex. How to Support a Friend) or helping to
lead cooking classes. Topics of focus this year include nutrition,
mental wellbeing, sexual health, body positivity, and social health, but
are likely to change each year. The weekly time commitment for this
volunteer position is about 4 hours/week and it is a great way to gain
experience, get more involved with health initiatives on campus, and
learn about healthy equity and public health.

PWA applications are open from January 2-30. The link can be found on
the Duck Nest website (https://health.uoregon.edu/ducknest) or at the
following link:
https://uoregon.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/form/start/373031.Each
volunteer who is selected will sign up for a 3 credit, upper division
course taught on Mondays from 4pm-6:50pm in the Spring (where they will
learn about campus resources, peer health education, and a variety of
health topics) and will start volunteering at the center the following
Fall term.
