Dear PREV students,

Please consider participating in this summit. They are looking for proposals (200 word abstract and 3 goals/objectives) to address a range of topics related to mental health and substance use which may include, but are not limited to:

  *   Research and evidence-based initiatives on mental health and substance use
  *   Wellness and self-care resources for students
  *   Factors influencing the campus culture of mental health and substance use
  *   Intersections of mental health and substance misuse
  *   Identification of problematic behaviors and enhancing self-efficacy
  *   Development and enhancement of services to support students in recovery
  *   The recovery process
  *   Bystander intervention
  *   Impact of substance misuse and abuse
  *   The role of peer educators and impact of peer education

This is a reminder to submit your proposals for Connecting the Dots: A Summit on Intersections of Mental Health and Substance Use in Campus Communities.



We are seeking proposals for 50-minute sessions from both professionals in the field and student researchers and peer educators addressing substance use and mental health on college campuses. More details can be found in the proposal form.

Save the date for a state-wide summit on the intersection of mental health and substance abuse presented by the University of Oregon and Oregon Health Authority. Connecting the Dots: A Summit on Intersections of Mental Health and Substance Use in Campus Communities will take place from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2020 with the purpose of bringing together professionals and student leaders in the field of substance abuse prevention, recovery, and mental health on college campuses. The summit is free to attend. Attendees are responsible for costs associated with lodging, however we do not want cost to be the reason preventing participation. On the registration form, registrants can indicate if the cost of lodging is preventing them from attending the event and our summit coordinator will be in contact with you. An email with details about registration will be sent soon.


Goals of the summit include:

  *   Fostering state-wide collaboration on issues of collegiate substance misuse

  *   Facilitating discourse on challenges and approaches addressing the intersection of mental health and substance misuse

  *   Forming a coalition of representatives from Oregon colleges and universities
