Dear Directors of Graduate Studies and Graduate Coordinators/Secretaries,

Please remind your students that applications for Winter 2019 graduate degrees, certificates, and specializations are due no later than Friday, January 18, 2019. As you know, applications are submitted electronically by the student. Please ask students to visit our website to access the application to graduate, graduation checklist for minimum university requirements (attached) and reminders of other required steps: http://gradschool.uoregon.edu/getting-ready-graduate

You can check GradWeb under the "Adv Degree" menu to ensure an application has been successfully submitted.

Concurrent degree students/Specializations/Certificates

-If a student is planning to graduate with a specialization the declaration form is due by Friday, January 18, 2019. If you have not already sent us the courses used to fulfill the specialization requirements for the student and this information is not reflected on the student's degree guide/audit, please send us a copy of this information.

-If a student is planning to graduate with a certificate and the courses used to fulfill the certificate requirements are not clearly designated on the student's degree guide/audit, please send us a copy of this information. Students applying to receive a certificate should have declared the certificate within one term of admission to the certificate program.

For concurrent degree students, the program plan is due no later than Friday, January 18, 2019. For guidance on completing concurrent degree program plans please contact me directly for more details.

Statements of Completion (SOC)

-Please review applications to graduate early in the term.

-If a student applies for a MA degree and you have not yet sent us documentation of how the language requirement was met, please do so.

-The SOC process asks the department (DGS or Department Head) to certify if the student has fully met the departmental requirements for the degree or to deny the application if all requirements were not complete by the end of the term. Before certifying completion departments will need to check on any required classes after the grading deadline to see if the student passed them, as well as receive any other department requirements for the degree (terminal project, etc.). The SOC deadline is 5pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
