Dear CPHS graduate students,
You are invited to attend a training workshop in winter term on the topic of Difficult Dialogues in the Classroom. The workshop will be held February 28th from 10:15-11:50am in HEDCO 220, so please mark your calendars.

Dr. Jason Schreiner, Associate Director of the UO's Teaching Engagement Program will facilitate this workshop, which will discuss strategies for developing respect and mutuality in the classroom, discuss structures that enable students to better discuss sensitive course material, and will provide opportunities to practice negotiating heated, potentially painful, or offensive moments in the classroom. The workshop will also focus on specific strategies for managing difficult dialogues in large classrooms.

This workshop will serve as a combined CPSY & PREVSCI doctoral seminar session for doctoral students in the department, but all master's students in the department are also welcome and encouraged to attend.

If you have any specific issues/topics you would like the workshop facilitator to discuss around difficult dialogues in large classrooms, please email those suggestions directly to me and I will convey them to Dr. Schreiner in anticipation of the event.

Best wishes to you all for a peaceful and relaxing winter break.
Emily
