Are you interested in learning about early intervention or children's communication and play skills? Or are you interested in earning some additional money during the school year? If so, you may be interested in a graduate research assistant position on my early intervention projects in Special Education and Clinical Sciences in the College of Education. This is an hourly graduate research assistant position for up to 8 hours/week (note: this is NOT a GE position). Hours are flexible and can vary based on the applicant's schedule and the project workload. See below for additional details.

Job Description:

With supervision and support, this position will involve assisting with data entry and data management on research projects that focus on understanding how early intervention practices delivered in community education and health settings can influence children's learning. For example:

  *   Comparative examination of two different methods to train community early interventionists to support children with autism spectrum disorders;
  *   Examining adaptive intervention sequences to support children's communication and caregivers' interaction strategies

Duties will include detailed data entry of video coded child and adult behavior as well as general assistance with data collection and data management tasks. This position can also offer opportunities to learn to systematically code and analyze data from video recorded interactions of children with their caregivers and educators.



Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  *   Correctly and precisely enter numerical and qualitative data into Excel spreadsheets
  *   Sum counts of child and adult behaviors and transfer these counts into Excel spreadsheets
  *   Verify accuracy of data entry
  *   Electronically retrieve and track incoming video data
  *   Function cooperatively and effectively with other members of the research team



Minimum Requirements:

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a social science discipline.

Experience with Excel and Word and close attention to detail is required. Experience with data management using statistical packages such as SPSS or SAS is preferred but not required.



Additional information:

This is a part-time, hourly RA position that requires no more than 8 hours per week. Hours may vary based on the flow of incoming data that requires processing and entry.

The start date for this position will be November 1 2018.
