Dear PrevSci students,
Please see below regarding the quantitative research methods specialization. For those in the PREV MS or PhD program who are considering doing quantitative methods for your PREV specialization area, the option below would give you a way to do that while also receive the QRM specialization.
Thanks,
Leslie & Atika

Subject: coe-staff: Quantitative Research Methods (QRM) specialization courses
Dear colleagues,
I am writing to remind our graduate academic advisors that the Quantitative Research Methods (QRM) specialization is open to ALL graduate students.
The QRM specialization (https://education.uoregon.edu/program/quantitative-research-methods-specialization) is designed to build serious expertise in quantitative research methodology. To earn the specialization, students need to:
* Have prior knowledge or taken courses equivalent to a primary COE quantitative methods sequence (i.e., understand up to and including multivariate and multiple regression methods)
* Complete 20 credits worth of coursework in advanced quantitative methods
* Take a two-course sequence in at least one method (e.g., HLM, SEM, IRT)
Generally, EDUC courses do NOT count toward the specialization (though exceptions may be made depending on a student’s planned program). Advanced quantitative methods outside the Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership (EMPL) CAN count with approval from the EMPL PhD program director. Courses taken after advancement also count toward the specialization.
Students or faculty with questions about the specialization should consult with the EMPL PhD program director (Gina Biancarosa, 541-346-2883, ginab at uoregon.edu<mailto:ginab at uoregon.edu>).
EMPL courses over the next several terms that can count toward the specialization are:
* EDLD 634, Structural Equation Modeling II, Spring 2018
* EDLD 650, Advanced Seminar in Educational Research Methods, Spring 2018
* EDLD 661, Item Response Theory I, Spring 2018
* EDLD 610, Introduction to Data Science in R, Fall 2018
* EDLD 610, Communicating and Transforming Data (in R), Winter 2019
* EDLD 628, Hierarchical Linear Models I, Winter 2019
* EDLD 629, Hierarchical Linear Models II, Spring 2019
* EDLD 679, Advanced Program Evaluation, Spring 2019
* EDLD 610, Functional Programming in R, Spring 2019
There are still seats left in the three courses offered this spring. I am also happy to field questions about specific classes.
Regards,
Gina
