[Prevscilist] SPR 2018 Brown Bag Special Interest Group Meeting on "prevention science graduate training programs"

Dear PREV students,

Good news – Dr. Khurana and the Washington State University Prevention Science PhD program director (Dr. Brittany Cooper Rhoades) had a “Brown Bag” Special Interest Group accepted for the 2018 Annual Meeting.  It is scheduled for Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 12-1 pm. The purpose is for students and faculty across multiple prev sci programs (or those interested in launching a degree program) to chat about training and collaborative opportunities. In addition, we have secured an exhibitor display table for the duration of the conference, which will be a place for prev sci programs across the country (and internationally) to advertise their prevention science graduate programs. We welcome and encourage student participation in both of these venues.

To make student attendance at the conference more feasible, we are using funds from a faculty award to offer $600 travel scholarships for up to 7 students to attend SPR. If more than 7 students are interested, priority will be given to students who are an author or co-author on a paper or poster at the conference.

Requirements for the travel scholarship:

  1.  Current PREV student in good standing
  2.  Ability to attend the conference for at least 2 of the 3 conference venue days
  3.  Participation in the Brown Bag
  4.  Help staff the exhibitor display table for a 2-4 hour shift
  5.  Member of ECPN, the student network arm of SPR (http://www.preventionresearch.org/ecpn-mission/)
