Dear Prev Sci students,

Please see below from Bryan Rojas-Arauz for information about a potluck gathering this evening, in support of each other and our department community. This gathering is a welcoming and supportive place for all who wish to attend, to both give and receive support from peers and the CPHS community in this time of grief.

Peace,
Leslie

SUBJECT: cpsylist: CPsy Get Together and Healing Space
Dear Cpsy Family (Students, Faculty, and staff),
As we continue to process Dr. Smith's passing and the effect something
like this can have on our community, we wanted to invite all of those
who would like to come together to do so. We all mourn in different
ways; however it is important for us to create the space for one
another
if we need it. Many of us came to this program because of the sense of
community we felt during our interview weekend. We need to go back to
that space in which we allowed strangers to become family. Whether it
was our cohort, docsem, or advisors, we all chose to call the UO home
for the time being. A true measure of a community is how we show up
for
one another during difficult times. It is during difficult times that
things get pushed into perspective. The many worries, stressors, or
emotional bruising that we often carry seem to dissipate and be put
aside when we need each other most.
It goes without saying that now more than ever, we need to show up for
one another. It truly takes a tribe to get us through and even though
eventually we may leave this place, we will always be part of each
other’s story. Even when the geography changes, we continue to show
up
for one another. It is in the hopes of continuing to be present,
supportive, share space, love, compassion, and healing that we would
like to invite everyone to a potluck at Dani Wilson’s house (90974 S
Willamette St) this Saturday at 7pm. Please feel free to bring
something
to share but more than anything, please feel welcome to come to be in
community for as much or as little time as you'd like. Let's make sure
we are not going through it alone. Each one heal one.
Much Love,
Bryan, SALA Diversity Chair
