Dear Graduate Program Directors and Graduate Coordinators,

As graduate students start the academic year, remember that Research 
Compliance Services (RCS) can support them as researchers in the 
following areas.

*  Protecting human subjects in research: *

ØConsultation to determine if the research requires Institutional Review 
Board (IRB) review

ØGuidance on best practices and development of an application for IRB review

*Training in the responsible conduct of research:*

ØEducation in research ethics and research compliance

ØGuidance on best practices for satisfying Federal training requirements 
(NIH, NSF)

*Managing conflicts of interest in research:*

ØAnswering questions about what constitutes a conflict of interest in 
research

ØGuidance on complying with University policies and Federal regulations

*Investigating allegations of research misconduct:*

ØAnswering questions about what constitutes research misconduct under 
University policy and Federal regulations

ØService as a point of contact for anyone concerned that research is not 
being conducted ethically

*Also, please help advertise Research Compliance Services’ fall 
workshops and office hours!*

*Office Hours:* Tuesdays 10am-12noon & Wednesdays 2pm-4pm

*Workshops: *IRB Submission & Protocol 
Development                              November 15, 2-3:30pm

How to Write a Research Plan (for IRB Submission) November 16, 10-11:30am
