Hello Elena,
We are very excited that you will be joining our prevention science program this fall!
Although I do not know of anyone hiring immediately, I have a couple of suggestions for you. First, you could submit an application to the prevention science institute’s open pool of research assistants. We use this pool regularly when positions become available, here is a link: http://careers.uoregon.edu/cw/en-us/job/519488/pro-tempore-research-assistantresearch-associate-prevention-science-institute.
Second, there may be other UO positions open that fit your skills and interests, you can find all open positions here: http://hr.uoregon.edu/jobs
Third, you might contact Oregon Social Learning Center and Oregon Research Institute and submit an unsolicited application to both of those organizations. They conduct research that would be compatible with your training.
I hope this gives you a few god directions to check out. I look forward to meeting you in person soon!
Best,
Leslie

Dr. Leve,
My name is Elena Arechiga and I have the privilege of joining the Prevention Science graduate program beginning in the Fall. I am currently in Arkansas where I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Central Arkansas. I plan on moving to Eugene in late August or early September and am seeking a research or graduate position that may be available beginning in the fall semester. I am a very enthusiastic and hard-working student, and am currently working with my undergraduate thesis mentor, Dr. Joan Simon, to publish my research on bullying. I am no stranger to working long hours on research in order to see a project to completion. I have attached both my resume and CV to this email. I would greatly appreciate it if you would review them and let me know what you think, or whom to contact next.
For reference, my advisor’s contact information is as follows: Joan Simon, PhD; Interim Graduate Dean, Associate Professor of Psychology, (501) 450-5411. As we have been working together for two years, Dr. Simon knows my work ethic and academic abilities well.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Elena Arechiga
