Early Environmental Influences of Maternal Nutrition and Obesity on Offspring Mental Health
Speaker: Elinor Sullivan, Ph.D.

Date: Friday, November 4th, 2016

Time: 11:00am-12:20pm

Location: 221 McKenzie

This talk will discuss the impact of maternal diet and metabolic state on offspring behavior. I will focus on examining the impact of maternal obesity and high-fat diet consumption on behaviors related to mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders such as anxiety, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorders. I will also highlight the change in brain development that underlie the behavioral changes and discuss potential mechanisms for these changes.
