MEMORANDUM

TO: HR and Payroll Contacts

FROM: Bill Brady, Sr. Director Employee & Labor Relations
Human Resources

DATE: November 13, 2014

SUBJECT: VACATION CASH-OUT UNDER SEIU CONTRACT

We are sending the information included below to all SEIU classified employees as required under the collective bargaining agreement. Please make sure those supervisors of employees who do not regularly access email communicate the information to those employees. Your help in communicating this information to your staff and complying with the contract language is appreciated.

I write to remind you of an important provision of the SEIU contract regarding payment of accrued vacation. As an SEIU-represented employee, you have the opportunity to "cash out" up to 40 hours of vacation to be paid in your January 2015 paycheck, provided you have a minimum of 80 hours of accrued vacation leave remaining after the cash-out. (SEIU-OUS Collective Bargaining Agreement, Article 47, section 17).

The option to "cash out" vacation is not new to the contract; however this is a reminder that the request for the payment must be made no later than December 31, 2014 for the January 2015 payment. The request to "cash out" vacation cannot be changed or revoked after December 31, 2014.

The form to request a "cash-out" is available on the Human Resources website at:
http://hr.uoregon.edu/policy/leaves/seiu-request-cash-out-vacation

A copy of the form is emailed or faxed to the Office of Human Resources no later than December 31, 2014. Email: hrinfo at uoregon.edu<mailto:hrinfo at uoregon.edu>, Fax: (541) 346-2548

Please contact your payroll or human resources representative if you have questions.
