mriconvert: mri_convert installation on mac os sierra

I think I used gcc. Been a long time since I did any building for osx (I
handed that off to someone who isn't here any more and haven't had time to
go back to it).

I wonder if you have any suggestion how to make a command line installation
of mri_convert 2.1.0 on 

Mac os sierra 10.12.3? (e.g what compiler to use)
