mriconvert: mri_convert installation on mac os sierra

Hi


Sorry about the name confusion.


I tried dicom to nii conversion with MRIConvert and it did a more consistent orientation job with my dicom files than the command line converter mri_convert. Hence I would like to use a command line version of MRIConvert and I suppose it is McVerter I should install?


However, when I try gcc compilation of McVerter I get the error:

The app.h seems to be in the PATH. Do you have any idea what goes wrong?

There is no mri_convert 2.1.0 as far as I know, and if there were, you’d want to ask about it on a different mailing list, because this one is for MRIConvert/mcverter. There is also no MriConvert, unless someone decided to write a third confusingly-named piece of software. What website did you download these from that is misspelling everything? And are you sure you want to replace mri_convert with a completely different piece of software?

But my thought was to replace my mri_convert 1.179 (and it is installed within Freesurfer 5.1) with mri_convert 2.1.0.  (both mri_convert 2.1.0 and MriConvert were downloaded from the same website)

There may be some confusion here. MRIConvert (no underscore) is a different program than mri_convert that comes with Freesurfer. They were developed/named at about the same time, and neither of us ever bothered to rename our software.

When I try gcc I get the message:
fatal error: 'wx/wxprec.h' file not
      found

so maybe my wxWidget 3.0.3 installation is faulty (however the wxprec.h file is in the PATH)



Do you know which mri_convert version the latest version of Freesurfer is using? It may be a "workaround" to update Freesurfer in order to get a newer mri_convert. My mri_convert version at the moment is 1.179.2.7 2012/09/05 and unfortunately it gets the orientation wrong for some of my dicomacquisitions when converting to nifti. The latest MriConvert app can handle these dicom aqcuisitions in a better way and that is why I want a late verion of mri_convert.

I have successfully used gcc to compile mriconvert/mcverter on OS X (Leopard through Mavericks), but haven't tried on macOS (Sierra/High Sierra_.
