Dear IACUC Community,
Project Update
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) is
advancing our animal research community through the implementation of a new
tool to support the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
The project team continues to work with the vendor to plan and prepare the
IACUC tool in preparation for the go live. The preparations include
identifying standard procedures and loading the protocols and training
records into the new tool.
The tentative go-live date for the IACUC tool is August 22, 2022. The
go-live will ensure investigators a smooth roll-out and transition from the
current system (eAPM).
What does this mean for you?
In order to extract and migrate the information from eAPM to the new system,
we will need to freeze the information in eAPM at end of business on
Wednesday, July 20th. After that time, your protocol in eAPM will only be
available for viewing.
During the freeze, any changes to protocols will be performed manually by
the IACUC office. If you anticipate the need to create an amendment in the
near future, we request that you communicate that with us soon. We will do
our best to continue to process requests as quickly as possible, but we
anticipate that there will be delays in conducting business and ask for your
patience.
Investigators and their teams will need to fully populate and validate
protocols in the new system after go-live and prior to any protocol
amendments or modifications.
What's Next?
The project team will reengage with the IACUC vendor this week to finalize
the new IACUC system configuration and prepare for go-live.
Training materials will be made available and training events scheduled as
we approach the go-live date in August.
Each lab will be receiving a Word document containing a list of all the
lab's currently approved procedures as well as a template for procedures
that can be used to create the lab's unique laboratory procedures that will
be transferred to the new system at go-live.
The project team will continue to prepare standard procedures for the most
common procedures performed across labs in order to have a standard library
that will continue to grow after go-live.
If you have any questions about the new IACUC tool or this initiative, I
invite you to share those by emailing rapinfo at uoregon.edu
