The service works because the students buy time with the Beulr bot and supply their username and password to get onto Zoom.</p>

Right now the only way that I’m aware of to get around this is for faculty to query students who have their video turned off and see if they get an actual, audio response. Or, I suppose, privately CHAT them during class and see if they respond… although I
imagine Beulr is working on simple text-only responses. </p>

There _<i>might</i>_ be a way to get a student’s Internet Protocol (IP) address… but since students are connecting from all over the planet, that really doesn’t help (if they were on campus, we could screen for UO IP).</p>

Thinking about it a little more… part of Beulr’s functionality comes from scheduling face student’s connection… if instructors give out links to classes a day or hours beforehand, it would be harder for the fake student to schedule sessions. If instructors
