*Morningside Academy is hiring a Lead Instructional Coach*
The Lead Instructional Coach will support the implementation of the
Morningside Model of Generative Instruction (MMGI) in our laboratory school
classrooms through the training and coaching of classroom teachers.

Morningside Academy is a laboratory school that provides elementary and
middle school age struggling learners the opportunity to catch up, build
up, and get ahead. Morningside students have not previously reached their
potential; many have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia,
dyscalculia, or ADD/ADHD. All have average to above average intelligence.
Morningside is not a school for children with significant emotional
problems, behavioral problems, or developmental delays.

For over 40 years, Morningside has been a leader in investigating and
implementing educational best practices. Our approach, MMGI, combines best
practices in assessment (e.g., Curriculum Based Measurement, homogeneous
achievement grouping), research or evidence-based technologies of teaching
(direct instruction, Precision Teaching, and Talk Aloud Problem Solving),
and applied behavior analysis procedures (e.g., Good Behavior Game) within
a Response to Intervention (RtI) framework.

A fundamental component of MMGI is the coaching that teachers receive in
their classrooms. Morningside coaches track which teachers have completed
initial training on MMGI elements, then establish a schedule for extensive
follow up coaching sessions. Systematic feedback is given before, during,
and after coaching sessions. Component-specific rubrics are used to
evaluate teacher improvement and to guide future goals. In addition to the
Lead Instructional Coach, Morningside employs a part-time teacher/coach who
divides their day between teaching a class and coaching other classroom
teachers. Members of Morningside’s leadership team also provide in-classroom
 coaching.

The Lead Instructional Coach will receive ongoing mentorship from the
Executive and Associate Director in executing the following
responsibilities:

   1. Conduct training workshops on MMGI instructional procedures and
   associated curricula.
   2. Provide follow up in-classroom coaching on those instructional procedures
   and associated curricula.
   3. Track teacher development using established evaluation rubrics.
   4. Set goals for each teacher for further improvement.

   teacher/coach.
