Please join me in congratulating Kelly Jean Doty, who successfully defended her dissertation yesterday. Her project, titled "Negative Affect, Dietary Restraint, and Loss of Control Eating in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome," evaluated what
factors were most closely related to disordered eating in women with PCOS (now, more appropriately, called Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome or

PMOS). Her data really highlight the presence of distress in this sample, in the forms of depressive symptoms, internalized weight bias, and poor health-related quality of life, and its close link with disordered eating. Yet, dieting and weight loss remain
first line interventions for this condition. More is needed regarding improving screening and treatment for this understudied, undertreated condition.
