<p class="MsoNormal">Please join me in congratulating Sammy Plezia, who just learned that her grant application, titled “<i><span style="color:black;background:white">Exploring the relationship between gender identity, culturally relevant gender roles, and
body dissatisfaction among Goan adolescent girls: A qualitative investigation,</span></i><span style="color:black;background:white">” was just selected for funding by the Center for the Study of Women in Society at the University of Oregon. Sammy will spend
the summer in Goa, India, talking with adolescents about their experiences with body image. Ultimately, she hopes to use these data to develop a brief intervention to help reduce body dissatisfaction, a prominent risk factor for eating disorders. Adolescents
and young adults in India have extremely high rates of body dissatisfaction; yet, they are woefully underrepresented in theoretical and clinical eating disorder research. Sammy’s data will begin to fill these gaps, in ways that may have a substantial impact
on the risk of youth in this country.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
