<p class="MsoNormal">I am writing to you in my role as Department Head for the Counseling Psychology and Human Services department, a role which began earlier this summer. My goal as department head is to bring a leadership approach that promotes our
<u>department-wide mission</u> of a commitment to “community-based research and scholarship focused on improving prevention and intervention practice for children, youth, adults, and families” and training “socially-aware and multiculturally competent researchers
and interventionists who, in partnership with their communities, promote social justice, engage in systems change, enhance individual and family well-being through evidence-based practice, and apply behavioral science toward resolving human problems,” while
also recognizing and supporting the differences, needs, and strengths of the multiple degree programs in our department (CPSY, PREV, CFT, FHS). I promise to communicate department-level information to you in a timely manner, to listen to your concerns and

with Dr. Mauricio on internship or externship questions and requirements.<o:p></o:p></li></ol>

<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l3 level1 lfo1">CPSY 5<sup>th</sup> year graduate student Lue Williams has a GE position this academic year that includes some CPSY programmatic support. To this end, Lue will hold office hours on
Friday mornings. Lue has experienced all the major CPSY program milestones (except dissertation) and has a wealth of information. If she doesn’t have the answer to your question, she can help direct you to the right person, and/or raise topics with me as department
head, Dr. Mauricio as DCT, or with SALA. Lue will correspond separately on the student-only listserve with more details later this month.<o:p></o:p></li></ol>
