Because SOURCE is just 3 years old, I thought it would be helpful to provide a little background, especially because I want to acknowledge that the COE and, in particular, CPSY has a long-standing commitment to supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in
what we do and have done. And this may not be represented in a group that is only 3 years old. Although, to be sure, SOURCE is the most recent iteration of long-standing groups in the COE.</div>

When Dr. Ellen McWhirter and I were at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (ok Benedict, where is this going?...._.) we were faculty sponsors of the "Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee" (EMAC). Counseling Psychology at UNL had a long history of working to enhance
the ethnocultural diversity of the field and we supported many students of color to come to graduate school who would never have come to Nebraska otherwise. When Ellen and I came to the UO, two of our graduate students who were members of EMAC came with us
to Oregon to complete their PHDs with us here (the now Dr. Jarrett Horibata and Dr. Saba Rasheed-Ali). Along with current CPSY students (including the now Dr. Krista Chronister) they quickly created a similar group in the College of Education: the "Ethnic
Diversity Affairs Committee: (EDAC). </div>

EDAC's mission varied from year to year but always had at its center the importance of student support, recruitment of new students, advocacy, and education through personal sharing of cultural histories. EDAC helped educate others and expand student and faculty
awareness, knowledge, and cultural competency in the COE. For years, EDAC served as the primary group in the COE that supported students of color, international students, and LGBTQ identified students. There was a GE assigned to coordinate EDAC. EDAC was
a college-wide group that was almost always coordinated by Counseling Psychology students at its core. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">This was because of CPSY's long-standing commitment to Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion, and because CPSY students know how to support and challenge, focus on the developmental needs of others, and take joy in diversity.</span></div>

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Over the years, different and additional groups emerged. Some students preferred to integrate themselves university-wide and so CPSY students helped to start the
first OU-level Student Diversity group many years ago and were highly involved on the UO Center on Diversity and Community. In CPSY, SALA formed and in many ways moved CPSY student energy to the mission of SALA at the tail-end of EDAC's formal presence.
The COE Department of Education Studies students coordinated - and still coordinate - support efforts for students in that area. These were all highly supported by our previous COE Dean, Mike Bullis. Our current dean, Dr. Randy Kamphaus, initiated a student
diversity advisory board when he came to Oregon more than 5 years ago and has consistently supported many similar groups in his time here. So, SOURCE is a great enhancement in the COE and is the most recent - and of course better - iteration of previous work
of CPSY students to create a more welcoming and inclusive community.</span></div>

2021. To accommodate a variety of schedules the meetings this quarter will vary over several different days of the week and will occur at different times of day. In-person meetings typically take place in
<b>Lokey 270 </b>but may move depending on the size of our in-person group<b>.</b> For this quarter, a zoom link will also be shared so that we can experiment with a “hyflex” format for students whose schedule don’t accommodate the meeting time. Meeting dates
