Subject: FW: "Rehearsals for Life" is looking for graduate students to join us starting Spring Term 2026! - Please forward!
Hello!
My name is Ian Johnson. I’m the Student Program Director for Rehearsals for Life (RfL), with the Division of Equity and Inclusion. We are currently looking for graduate students to join our group and make a real impact around campus! Would you be willing to share this with your graduate student networks?
Thanks so much,
Ian
We are looking for committed and creative individuals who have a passion for social justice and a desire to contribute to the campus community in innovative ways
*
Earn $600 a term!
*
Use your creativity to further issues of equity and access on campus. Enhance your conflict resolution and facilitation skills.
*
Help generate solutions for the complex problems facing our community.
*
Be part a of a close-knit diverse community of people engaged in social justice
Rehearsals for Life is a project of the Division of Equity and Inclusion and the Division of Graduate Studies.
*
Utilizing scenario-based learning founded on the model of Theatre of the Oppressed and other applied theatre modalities, students develop interactive presentations for the campus community.
*
Both peer education and interactive scenario-based presentations are being recognized nationally for the valuable role they can play in shaping campus culture and in generating solutions to complex issues.
*
Throughout history theatre has been used as a tool for social change and can provide a valuable springboard for important dialogues.
*
As the complexities of our world increase and the pressures facing students mount, it is important that we continue to find innovative ways to meet and address these needs.
Testimonials:
“I joined RfL last year, and it has been a wonderful experience. While I have always enjoyed acting and theatre, RfL offers something richer - a chance to learn about the UO community and the broader world through collaborative conversations and activities. It is a space where we share and brainstorm ways to practice everyday interventions in situations shaped by diversity and inequity.
The group has a warm, welcoming vibe, and you learn a lot from hearing others’ experiences and even about yourself along the way. It is also a nice break from academic life, something fun and meaningful at the same time.”
“Being a part of RFL has been such an important part of my grad school experience. It's given me space outside of my home department to connect with people and learn more about experiences beyond what I'd see just going through my program. Everyone is so welcoming that it creates a supportive community, and it's so nice to have somewhere to talk about social justice and how we see it play out on campus and in our lives. It also is nice to go into classrooms and meetings to do workshops; academia can feel so insular that doing something directly impactful feels rewarding.“
*No prior theater experience is required, although students must be willing to learn and be comfortable in front of groups. Rehearsals are on Friday's from 2-4pm with additional commitments based on availability.
