Dear CPSY Students,

Welcome to the first day of the academic year! I hope each of you had a restorative summer, and I look forward to seeing each of you at this Friday’s combined GradSem in CLS 250.

We have been requested to identify a CPSY student representative to the COE Dean’s Student Advisory Board (DSAB).

The DSAB is an important forum for student input to the COE Dean. The function of the DSAB is to provide the Dean with information about students’ needs and experiences, provide advice on a broad range of COE matters, and to provide a forum to communicate important COE information that affects students.

My understanding is that the DSAB would meet twice during fall term and then once during winter and spring terms. The first meeting will be November 5th, 12:30-2:00pm, but for future meetings the Dean’s executive assistant will poll DSAB reps for their availability and pick the option that most people can attend. Meetings will be in hybrid format—over Zoom and in person in HEDCO 230T. The meetings are always 90 minutes, and food will be provided for folks attending in person.

We need to submit the name of the representative to the Dean’s Office by this Friday, October 4. If you are willing to serve in this position, please email me at jcronce at uoregon.edu<mailto:jcronce at uoregon.edu> as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for considering serving in this important role!

Best,
Jess

The University of Oregon is located on Kalapuya Ilihi, the traditional indigenous homeland of the Kalapuya people. Today, descendants are citizens of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon, and they continue to make important contributions in their communities, at UO, and across the land we now refer to as Oregon.

I support all students regardless of immigration status or country of origin. As a Dreamer Ally, I support Dreamer students and promote their sense of belonging and safety as they pursue their higher education goals. I commit to not sharing your status with anyone if you reveal it to me, but I also remind you that when interacting with faculty, staff, and offices around campus you are never required to reveal your immigration status.
