Please see a request below from the Oregon School Counselor Association regarding student volunteers to help run their annual conference<https://www.oscainc.org/site/annual-conference>. It takes place in the EMU on Friday October 25th and volunteers would be able to attend some of the sessions, including the keynote, for free, and also will receive a free lunch! The conference agenda is below and OSCA is hoping for some student volunteers from our department. If this would be of interest, please contact Teresa Dowdy teresa.dowdy at lagrandesd.org<mailto:teresa.dowdy at lagrandesd.org>.

We're thrilled to welcome keynote speaker Tinisha M. Parker, Ph.D. to this year's conference. Dr. Parker is a passionate educator and dedicated to supporting students through the services of school counseling. She serves in the 11th largest district in the nation which also happens to be the 7th most diverse district in the nation. She has served students in the capacity of teacher, counselor and now serves the adults who support students as a district administrator. Dr. Parker has been a leader in the counseling profession for many years leading support for over 500 counselors in her district as well as serving as president for the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA) and Chair of the Board for the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). She has served on a number of state, and national committees involving school counseling practice, scope, and certification. Dr. Parker will help us kick off the day with a focus on qualities and actions counselors use each day to support, develop and advocate for students.
