Dear CPSY Students,

Students whose dissertation proposal has been approved by their committee (or are likely to be approved by their committee by March 1) and who have not yet completed the oral defense of their dissertation should consider applying for the APA Dissertation Research Award<https://www.apa.org/about/awards/scidir-dissertre?tab=1>. This annual award from the APA provides financial support to eligible<https://www.apa.org/about/awards/scidir-dissertre?tab=2> doctoral psychology students in the form of a grant ($5,000 or $10,000) to cover the costs of conducting their dissertation research.

Note, only 3 applicants can be put forward by the UO VPRI from our department. Thus, while the APA application deadline is March 1, 2024; the CPSY program has an internal application deadline of January 26 to determine which 3 students will be nominated, so those students can have sufficient time to craft their full application<https://www.apa.org/about/awards/scidir-dissertre?tab=3>.

Students interested in being considered for the APA Dissertation Research Award should send the following material to cpsy at uoregon.edu<mailto:cpsy at uoregon.edu> with the subject line "APA Dissertation Research Award" by the internal CPSY application deadline: Friday, January 26.

  *   Current CV
  * A brief summary/abstract of their proposed dissertation research (ideally, no more than 2 pages long), including the project background and rationale, research questions, and an explanation of the research design (methods, procedure, analysis plan, etc.)

Please consult APA's website (links above) for information about eligibility and the application requirements, and please reach out to cpsy at uoregon.edu<mailto:cpsy at uoregon.edu> with any questions about CPSY's internal process!

Best,
Jess
