Please share this announcement of possible scholarship support from the Mexican Consulate for any undergraduate or graduate student who was enrolled at UO last year, and meets the other specified criteria below. Note that: Preference will be given to Latino / Hispanic students of Mexican-origin, and/or to students who self-identify as "DREAMers" under the United States' Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act
The application is due this Friday and a letter of rec is required so act fast if you want to apply or encourage someone else to apply!

Please remind students that this application is due this Friday, October 28, 2022. I just realized today that this is not open to 1st year students but only those who were also enrolled last academic year.

To qualify for the UO-IME Becas Scholarship, students need to meet the following criteria:

  1.  Been enrolled as a student and in good standing at the University of Oregon during the last academic year 2021-2022.
  2.  Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale AND maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA during the current academic year.
     *   Preference will be given to Latino / Hispanic students of Mexican-origin, and/or to students who self-identify as "DREAMers" under the United States' Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act.

I hope this e-mail finds you well. I am writing to let you know about a scholarship opportunity in partnership with the Consulate of Mexico in Portland. Please share it with other students and colleagues in your networks.

The University of Oregon is committed to its students' academic success and to providing a world class quality education. In an effort to ensuring access and success, we are announcing the University of Oregon and IME Becas Scholarship Program as a joint effort between the Office of Admissions in the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and the Consulate of Mexico in Portland. The funds are intended to support a diverse student population at the University of Oregon and provide financial support to students with costs related to attending the university.  Through this partnership, UO-IME Becas seeks to expand the opportunities of higher education among the Mexican population. In this edition, we are offering awards ranging from $3,500 to $5,000.00 each.

To qualify for the UO-IME Becas Scholarship, students need to meet the following criteria:

1                 Be enrolled as a student and in good standing at the University of Oregon during academic year 2021-2022.

2                 Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Attached please find the scholarship application in word and PDF formats with further details. Please use the attached scholarship application form as a cover page and answer the scholarship questions on a separate sheet of paper and send all application materials as ONE PDF file by the APPLICATION DEADLINE OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2022 BY 12:00 NOON.

Application materials including a confidential letter of recommendation from a university faculty member, staff, GTF, community member or church official can be sent electronically in PDF format to Antonio Huerta in the Office of Admissions to, joseh at uoregon.edu<mailto:joseh at uoregon.edu>  or by mail: 1217 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1217. Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a scholarship selection committee and awardees will be notified no later than November 11. Scholarship recipients will be required to see an academic advisor at least twice per term.
