Dear CPSY program,

As the ombuds program continues with the process of gathering feedback from doctoral students, we have also been working to schedule a good time to share this information back to students and faculty and discuss a plan for moving forward. Simply because of the deadline imposed by the end of the term and busy spring schedules, scheduling for this feedback part of the process has been a challenge. It is vital to the process that everyone who wishes to participate is able to do so. It is also important that there is adequate time and energy to invest in developing next steps.

To ensure full participation, I propose that we hold two virtual sessions during the final week(s) of the term wherein the ombuds program will share the feedback. Individuals could select the session they wish to attend (or attend both). Hopefully, this will allow for everyone to hear this feedback. The downside to scheduling two sessions is that we cannot immediately move into the facilitation portion since that is best done as one full group. While I know faculty and students have wanted to get to that part of the process to address concerns, I suggest moving the facilitation part of the process to early fall when there is adequate time to both schedule and address the issues shared in the feedback process.

The two virtual meetings will be:

Tuesday June 7: 2:30 - 3:30 PM

Friday June 10: 8:30-10:00 AM

Zoom information forthcoming.

If you have concerns about this slightly adjusted approach, please reach out this week and share your concerns with the ombuds program. We would like to get a read on whether this seems acceptable to faculty and students.

Sincerely,

Brett Harris
