Greeting student colleagues:
I want to thank you all again for contributing so much to improving the CPSY program. Faculty are very appreciative of your messages and willingness to be vulnerable to help create a better program.
As I indicated in my last email, here is a follow-up.
1. On April 14 CPSY faculty had a direct conversation about our wishes to improve the program and find a way forward to support students more.
2. CPSY Student leaders and faculty have requested the University Ombudsperson(s) to join our combined Docsem on Friday April 22. They will:
(a) Present an overview of the ways they can help, such as providing students with a confidential avenue to express concerns and identify ways we can be a better program focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. They will present on Zoom for part of the Docsem time and lay out options from their office.
(b) Present how they can provide faculty with a similar outside perspective to enhance our own dialogue and changes we need to make.
3. We are trying to set up a meeting with the Ombudsperson prior to April 22nd to prepare.
The Ombuds process is confidential. Check out their services here: https://ombuds.uoregon.edu/.
4. Dr. Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann will likely also join us on Friday April 22 to discuss different avenues of support and mechanisms of systemic change within and outside of the COE as well.
5. Faculty will be working in an ongoing manner with the Ombuds office and will engage their services for our April 29 faculty meeting, if this is what they recommend.
These are just more steps in a longer process that faculty are committed to engaging in with you all.
Thanks,
Benedict
