Dear CPSY students,

Here is some updated information about externships for next year.

Bad news:
The VA (Portland, southern Oregon) does not appear to be taking new students for next year.
Oregon State Hospital Junction City is not taking new students for next year.

Good news:
*The Hedco Assessment Clinic is taking externs (see recent email from Dr. Karrie Walters).
*Oregon State University's counseling center (CAPS) is still accepting applications for the next several days:
OSU CAPS Practicum Training Program are accepting applications for 2021-2022. If you have any students who are interested in finding a externship, please encourage them to apply or contact me if they have any questions. The deadline for application is 02/28/21 at 11:59 PM, PST. Information about application process can be found here https://counseling.oregonstate.edu/training/application-process<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/counseling.oregonstate.edu/training/application-process__;!!C5qS4YX3!VcaaXEUGBDI0hI7aiTd2AR1KkGCysjzHrh_Ld-seSpx7PCJP5Y7WD_00-cp2EwZwzTA$>.
*Oregon Health Sciences University is seeking externs for next year (see attached description; they may have an extern option here in Eugene so contact person indicated if interested).
*Strong Integrated Behavioral Health is taking externs for next year. See recent email regarding opportunity with Dr. Paula Luginbuhl as well as opportunities for assessment focused externships (I don't have specifics about assessment externship at Strong at the moment).

These are not the only possibilities for you, but they are the ones I have been hearing about recently.

Please remember that you should not accept an externship without consulting with your advisor to consider your other responsibilities. Be sure what you set up conforms to the specifications in the Externship Agreement template that we have located on our resources website: https://cpsy.uoregon.edu/ . Be sure your prospective supervisor understands this agreement and is willing to provide the supervision as specified. Please review the description of externship provided in the most recent version of the student handbook before asking me questions about externships, because that is exactly where I will look to answer your questions!

Have a great day,

Ellen
