Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Division 45 Executive Committee, I am excited to announce the continuation of the Division 45 HOPE Fund for 2021 for undergraduates, graduates, interns and now expanded to early career professionals (i.e., individuals within 10 years of graduation). The Executive Committee of Division 45 developed the HOPE Fund initially to provide financial support to Division 45 student members experiencing hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, we have been able to provide approximately $14,500 to 32 students in the Division for critical items such as rent, food, tuition, gas, insurance, medicine, textbooks, utilities, research supplies, etc. Without question, this has truly been one of the most meaningful projects that the Division has created!
Given the continuing nature of this health and fiscal crisis and recognizing that early career professionals (ECP) are also experiencing their own challenges, the Executive Committee was unanimous in its decision to continue and expand the HOPE Fund for 2021. Of all the segments of our Division 45 community, the leadership of the Division recognizes that students and early career professionals are facing some of the hardest financial challenges due to the pandemic - particularly our undocumented and/or international students who are ineligible for federal support.
Although our resources are limited, the Executive Committee is strongly committed to using the resources we do have towards advancing our student and ECP community. Therefore, it is our collective hope that these funds – which do not require repayment – can provide some measure of financial relief and serve as a tangible act of support for our student and early career members.

For 2021, HOPE applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis, pending availability of funds. We will also be sending monthly announcements as a reminder. In general, applications are due on the third Monday of the month and notifications will be disseminated on the fourth week of the month. For questions about the HOPE Fund, please feel free to contact any members of the committee below and on cc.
Take care,
HOPE Fund Committee -
