Hi folks- this is from Dr. Tiffany Brown and I encourage all of you who can to participate!!

Benedict

Hi CPSY students!

I have been supporting efforts to assist fire evacuees with counseling support services. There is currently a call for support at hotels/shelters this weekend and through next week (maybe even beyond). CFT students have been helping this week with evacuees who are finding out about their property and we are learning that more support is needed at the shelter sites.

If you are interested, contact me and I will share a brief training with you about Psychological First Aid dos/don’ts and put you in contact with the county contact person who is coordinating shifts of counseling personnel. The essence is provide in person support at hotels, virtual support may be something we can do later on. Most people are wanting to just have someone to talk with and be heard. It’s not typical counseling in terms of sessions, more drop in/reach-in --- offering a listening and validating ear while assisting with immediate coping and grounding.

If you are interested send me an email and you’re welcome to text me, too. 541-521-0178.

Thanks so much,

Tiffany
