Subject: Research Recruitment Request

Dear Dr. McWhirter,

My name is Stephanie Chin and I am a counseling psychology student at the University of Louisville. I am reaching out to ask if you would be willing to help disseminate this request for research participants to anyone who may be interested in participating. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

Hello, you are invited to take part in a research study being conducted by Stephanie Chin, Jojo Yao, and Dr. Laurie McCubbin at the University of Louisville. The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of Covid-19 and discrimination on well-being. In this study, you will be asked to complete a survey, which should take approximately 15 minutes. This study has received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval through the University of Louisville (IRB_20.0482).

This study is open to anyone who identifies as Asian or Asian American ages 18 or older.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You may choose not to take part at all. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, you may decline to answer any questions. There are no known risks for your participation in this study. There are no foreseeable risks other than possible discomfort in answering personal questions. There are no known direct benefits for your participation, but the information collected may be helpful to others and the Asian American community. This web-based survey through Qualtrics is confidential. Qualtrics does not collect identifying information such as your name, email address, or IP address. Therefore, your responses will remain confidential, but absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed over the Internet. The data collected about you will be kept private and secured by password protected computer.

If you have any questions about the research study, please contact Stephanie Chin (s0chin10 at louisville.edu or at 516-582-1457) or Jojo Yao (t0yao003 at louisville.edu<mailto:t0yao003 at louisville.edu> and 267-205-4304).

If you have concerns or complaints about the research or research staff and you do not wish to give your name, you may call the toll-free number 1-877-852-1167. This is a 24-hour hotline answered by people who do not work at the University of Louisville.
