Please share with your graduate students, faculty, and staff!

The Center for the Study of Women in Society will be hosting our annual grant application workshop from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 for graduate students and faculty who have not gone through the research funding application process at the center.

CSWS maintains a number of grant programs to support the work on women and gender initiated by University of Oregon faculty, staff, and graduate students. By providing these highly competitive grants and fellowships, CSWS consistently has supported many important research projects at various stages of development and enriched programs in all sectors of the university.

UO graduate students, faculty, and staff can apply for funding to support research and/or creative work on women and gender from a range of disciplines. Research grants range up to $3,000 for graduate students and $6,000 for faculty and staff.

UO doctoral students who have been advanced to candidacy (or will be by the date of the award) are eligible to apply for the prestigious Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship, honoring the wife of CSWS's benefactor, William Harris. The fellowship carries a stipend of $18,000 plus additional benefits and is given annually to an outstanding scholar writing a dissertation on women and gender.

In addition, CSWS is now offering a $3,000 Graduate Writing Fellowship to doctoral students who are in the early stages of dissertation writing. The intent of this competitive fellowship is to provide a summer writing stipend to top finalists for the Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship. All Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship applicants will automatically be considered for the writing stipend.

Center Director Michelle McKinley is considering whether to offer graduate student travel grants this year, while under pandemic conditions. More information on travel grants will be available at the workshop.

The application deadline for all 2021-22 faculty, staff, and graduate research grants is January 29, 2021, by 5 p.m. Additional information about the grant application process is available on the CSWS website<https://csws.uoregon.edu/funding/research-grants/>.
