Subject: Recruitment for Dissertation Study on Work Demands and Burnout in Counseling Psychology Graduate Training

Dear Psychology Graduate Clinical Training and/or Program Director,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Gentry Torell and I am a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology PhD program at Fordham University. Dr. Merle Keitel, professor and former director of the doctoral program, is my research supervisor. I am writing to ask for your assistance with my IRB-approved dissertation study. The goal of this study is to better understand the various work demands and stress psychology graduate students face, their efforts to recover (via relaxation, psychological detachment from work), sleep behaviors, and potential burnout during doctoral training. This information will contribute to our overall knowledge about the experience of psychology doctoral students with the hope of making recommendations for graduate training programs.
I have developed an online survey that takes only 10-15 minutes to complete. No identifying data are requested and thus the survey is anonymous. I was wondering if you would consider sharing this message and the following survey link with the students in your program. Participants must be currently in their second year or beyond in an APA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology PhD program and currently seeing clients/patients as part of their doctoral training. By participating in this study, students will be given the chance to win one of three $50 Amazon gift cards.
Interested students can access the voluntary survey here:

Thank you so much for your time and assistance with this study! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Gentry Torell
