Hello all!
I just wanted to bring y’all awareness to a great event and Ce training happening soon around clinical competency in eating disorder treatment when working with lgbtqiaa folx. The cost is 25 dollars for students! Monte nido is currently hiring, too, so this is a great chance to network with local ED providers.
See below! I had to search in the event Brite link to find the actual event using IADEP and LGBTQ search terms.

On Thursday, August 8th, we will be hosting a 2-hour continuing education event followed by a hosted reception!! The presentation is on LGBTQ+ Competency When Working with Eating Disorders and Gender identity. The training will focus on therapeutic implications when working with transgender clients who struggle with eating disorders. An overview of proper language and an exploration of possible gender biases will be conducted. Clinicians will learn how to diagnose for gender dysphoria and how to delineate if a client’s gender identity influences their eating disorder. Clinicians will also learn various interventions for transitioning, including medical, and how they may impact eating disorder treatment.
Our amazing speaker will be Allison Burnett, LCSW, CEDS from Alsana: Eating Recovery Community.
Allison Burnett – Allison is an LCSW and a CEDS and has a rich history in treating eating disorders with a specialization in LGBTQ (she is quoted in the CEDS training for iaedp for LGBTQ). She is a certified LGBT affirmative psychotherapy provider as well as Alsana’s National Director of Advocacy.
