Greetings CPSY students in clinically oriented GE positions here at UO.
I have confirmation now in consultation with the state board and our general counsel’s office that by virtue of being enrolled as a graduate student in our UO CPSY program, that you are considered exempt per ORS 675.090(c).
This means that you will NOT need to be registered for academic credits for supervised clinical work that you engage in in the context of your GE positions here at the UO. Ever.
Your advisors are aware of this and have also been copied here. For any of you who have signed up for CPSY 607 with me for Winter term, per my advice below, you may drop that credit. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth

Dear Brian, Christina, and Nathan,
I’m following up with each you because you are currently in GE positions here at the UO in which you are engaging in supervised clinical activities ranging from assessment to outreach to service provision, activities for which we understand that you will be/have been submitting materials to document them as “Program-sanctioned hours.”
I’m working with our general counsel’s office and the graduate school to clarify our students’ exempt status per ORS 675.090(c), but we have not finalized things as of yet, and I want you to be squared away with clear guidance for Winter term scheduling.
Therefore, I advise you to register for 1 credit of CPSY 609 Prac Doctoral Externship (CRN 2244; Skowron) for Winter, 2019 to cover your GE-based clinical work during the term.
There should be no supplemental fee associated with the externship credit.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me…and have a peaceful winter break.
See you in January, kind regards,
