Hi, all. Please see below. I'm looking for one or more co-authors to help me with my chapter revision for a new edition of Handbook of LGBT-Affirmative Couple and Family Therapy. The chapter is on LGBTQ+ couple enrichment (e.g., couples' weekend encounter workshops). As described below, it requires 1) updates; 2) new material on intersectionality; and 3) clinical examples and discussion.
As you might imagine, there was little literature to cite in the first edition (and I spent some time casting doubt on previous literature as well). With the addition of intersectionality, I'm guessing there's not much more literature to look at. Great opportunity for us! This may mean that we spend some time identifying the problems associated with and reflected by this anticipated dearth of information, and describing best practice recommendations based on, for example, ethical standards and statements from APA's ethnic minority task forces and groups.
My preference for co-authors is those who have knowledge or personal experience of the topics in this chapter, including marriage encounter/workshop experience or professional training/knowledge, and especially those with LGBTQ+ intersectional identities. If this doesn't describe you but you're a strong writer and good with deadlines, I'd like to hear from you, too. If you don't want to be a co-author but want to share your experiences in this arena, I would be delighted to talk with you and see how we can include your comments in the revision.
Please send me an email directly at kerewsky at uoregon.edu, ideally now but definitely by October 1st.
Thanks, and see the editors' note below for description and deadlines (my chapter deadline will be more like June 1).
Shoshana

Subject: Invitation to contribute to the Handbook of LGBTQ-Affirmative Couple and Family Therapy (2nd edition)
Dear Dr. Kerewsky,
We (Megan Murphy and Rebecca Harvey) are revising the book Handbook of LGBT-Affirmative Couple and Family Therapy, originally edited by Jerry Bigner & Joe Wetchler and published in 2012. Joe has asked Megan to take on the 2nd edition, and Megan asked Rebecca to join her in this venture.
We are writing to you because of your previous work in that book or because of other work you have done on the topic of LGBTQ mental health.
We would like to invite you to revise the chapter on LGBT Couple Enrichment.
We are asking that all chapters in the 2nd edition focus more intentionally on intersectionality, perhaps choosing a few intersectional identities to write about (e.g., age, race, region, gender, class, immigration status, religion, physical ability, etc), and attend to the associated power/privilege/oppression that might impact your chapter’s topic. We are particularly interested in not exclusively Caucasian couples as examples. We are also looking for an increased clinical focus via case vignettes to appear throughout the chapter, and a deeper discussion of issues relevant to your chapter topic including the current socio-political climate, heteronormativity, and gender binary/fluidity, among other possibilities. Finally, we are inviting authors to propose titles for their chapters that arise from the case vignettes.
You are welcome to add a co-author. Once we have a commitment from authors, we will be submitting the proposal to Taylor & Francis for approval.
Our tentative deadlines (which need to be approved by publisher) are:
Your chapter due to us on 6/30/19
Our revision requests back to you on 9/15/19, with a return deadline of your chapter to us by 11/15/19
Final submission to Taylor Francis on 1/15/20.
If you are willing to write or revise this chapter, we would like to hear back from you about your commitment to this project by September 4, 2018.
We hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Megan Murphy & Rebecca Harvey
