Dr. Felver Bio
Joshua C. Felver, PhD, ABPP, completed his doctorate in School Psychology at the University of Oregon, his pre-doctoral internship at Boston Children's Hospital-Harvard Medical School, and his post-doctoral fellowship at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Syracuse University, and Co‐Director of Clinical Training in School Psychology and Coordinator of Funding and Internships. Dr. Felver teaches courses in child development, child and family interventions, and school‐based mental health. His research broadly focuses on the development, implementation, and study of mindfulness‐based interventions in school and community settings. He studies how mindfulness‐based interventions can be implemented in schools to support academic functioning and classroom behavior, and investigates the neurobiological mechanisms of contemplative practices. He incorporates psychophysiological measurement (e.g., heart rate, salivary cortisol levels) into his research initiatives. In addition to his applied research, he has clinical expertise in mindfulness‐based interventions, and in the assessment and treatment of youth with social‐emotional and psychiatric disabilities.
