Science and International Projects
FTE: 0.49
Terms: Fall, Winter, & Spring
Academic Year: 2018-19
Duties include:
* Assist with outreach and liaising efforts to faculty members and academic departments in the sciences.
* Carry out interviews and surveys to learn about interests, goals, and priorities among students in STEM.
* Advise students interested in participating in study abroad programs and global internships in various geographic regions.
* Review and manage applications using the Terra Dotta software Studio Abroad.
* Interview applicants and participate in the selection and nomination processes for study abroad programs.
* Review best practices and innovative ideas in the field of study abroad and its intersection with STEM; communicate findings to GEO staff.
* Prepare and update materials for pre-departure orientations and lead orientation sessions for students participating in study abroad and exchange programs.
* Research scholarship and funding opportunities for science students.
* Organize events, offer remote advising, and pursue broader collaboration with units on campus that support students interested in STEM.
* Give classroom announcements and other presentations to promote study abroad and internship opportunities.
* Assist with general tasks related to special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
Eligibility
UO graduate students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in any discipline are eligible to apply.
