Hi All-
Below is some important information from the COE regarding Externship contracts.

As professionals working in the community or in other no-UO settings (e.g., OSU) for practicum or externships, our Externship and Prac contracts will have to be processed entirely through the UO system.
I wanted to let all CPSY students and faculty know about this to assure that we are all compliant with contract processes to reduce liability when we work in the field.

This will take effect immediately, so if anyone is planning on summer activities, please let me know. Starting now and particularly relevant for beginning fall term, we will be using (1) a standard UO contract for externships, (2) need to assure specific activities in each externship site is pasted into the contract (or similar), and (3) assure that every externship site supervisor or administrator has a copy (electronic or hard copy) or our Student Handbook - which highlights the specific requirements of the Externship agreement.

Good Morning COE Program Directors:

As you know, the Academic Affairs team has been working to streamline our contract process by revising our COE template. We appreciate your input on the contract and hope to have a finalized contract in place in the coming weeks.

As part of this process, our team wants to highlight a few things:

-        Contracts are required for all external sites where your students are placed for field experiences, practica, externships, and internships (includes pre-doctoral internships) that are required to graduate. There are some programs that are not currently running formal contracts through the UO Purchasing and Contracting Services for all of their external placements. If that is your program, please contact Melynn Bates (melynn at uoregon.edu<mailto:melynn at uoregon.edu>) and she can talk with you about the steps that you need to begin the contracting process

-          All contracts/MOUs are required to go through UO Purchasing and Contracting Services
o   Faculty, staff do not have signature authority for the university and by signing a MOU/agreement, you are accepting personal liability

o   Chris Hoffman (choffman at uoregon.edu<mailto:choffman at uoregon.edu>) is the staff member dedicated to processing all College contracts through PCS.
o   If you have a new contract, please send information about the site to coefinance at uoregon.edu<mailto:coefinance at uoregon.edu>

-          Students enrolled for practica, field experience, internship, and externship credits and who are completing these experiences with external sites are covered under the university's insurance
o   If a site needs evidence of the student's UO insurance coverage, you may go onto the UO Risk Management website (https://safety.uoregon.edu/risk-management-and-insurance) and request a certificate of insurance.  You'll need to provide a copy of the contract.
