Greetings student, faculty, and staff:
Our APA Re-Accreditation site visit is now scheduled for March 5-6, 2018. Monday and Tuesday. We will work hard to not interrupt any of your normally planned activities - but please plan to try to free up some time during those two days for at least a couple meetings, if at all possible. For example, if you can push your office hours or FHS student meetings, etc. to a later or earlier date, please try to do so.
The site visit team typically wants to divide students and meet with you in smaller groups (usually based on cohort). We try to schedule this for a 2-hour block so that the team of three (3) visitors can divide up and meet with as many of you as possible in smaller groups. We hope to do this on Monday so their main impression of the program comes from you all as students.
Additionally, the team conducts an exit interview - where they discuss their preliminary findings to the whole program and administrators. This may vary, but would likely be at the end of the visit - sometime Tuesday afternoon on March 6th. It would be great to have many students at the exit interview. The site visit team and chair will determine final schedule.
Hopefully, we will find a time to have a combined Doctoral Seminar prior to March 5-6 to discuss the visit and what you might expect, and answer any questions you have. It has been 7 years since our last visit, so none of you students were here for the fun last time! Accreditation is a status that is really important to your future and careers, so it is good to be prepared and discuss the process ahead of time. It is a great time for all of us to self-reflect as well and think about how we can both celebrate and improve our training program.
Here are the site team members:
Dr. Steven Quintana, U. Wisconsin, Counseling Psychology (Chair)
Dr. Sara Bridges, U. Memphis, Counseling Psychology (Specialist)
Dr. Kathleen Sheridan, U. Illinois - Chicago, Developmental Psychology (Generalist)
Peace and welcome back!!
Benedict
