Behavior Management Clinic Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Kennedy Krieger Institute's Behavioral Psychology Department is pleased to announce several postdoctoral fellowship positions within the Behavior Management Clinic for the 2018-2019 academic year, beginning September 2018.

The Behavior Management Clinic provides outpatient treatment to families and community care providers serving children with common behavior problems, disruptive behavior disorders, and co-morbid disorders. The clinic serves children from 12 months through 12 years of age who present with externalizing and internalizing disorders and varying functioning levels including typically developing children as well as youngsters with mild cognitive, speech, and/or motor impairments. Treatment is family centered and primarily clinic-based, but it may also include limited opportunities for community-based service delivery on a case-by-case basis for purposes of advocacy, to tailor treatment interventions, and facilitate generalization and maintenance of treatment gains. The position will provide supervised clinical training in initial intakes, comprehensive behavioral assessments, and treatment/intervention service delivery. Clinic supervisors are Level 1 certified Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) trainers, and fellows may choose to pursue PCIT certification during the training year. Our clinic has an interdisciplinary focus and draws heavily from behavioral/cognitive behavioral approaches to assessment and treatment, with treatment modality dictated by presenting concerns. Group skills training to address difficulty with socialization and/or emotion management is also a focus of treatment.

Training is individualized in order to tailor fellowship experiences to the fellow's specific goals. Fellows may work across multiple sites. For example, some sites primarily serve military-connected families and one is co-located with Johns Hopkins Pediatric and Family Medicine practices. Fellows will have the opportunity to provide training and supervision to undergraduate practicum students and to provide informal training and support to doctoral interns. Fellows will also be provided opportunities to assume limited administrative or support roles for selected aspects of clinic operations. Community outreach is integral to the clinic's mission; hence, fellows will have the opportunity to give community talks, provide brief trainings to community providers, and to participate in marketing events.

The Kennedy Krieger Institute is affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Medicine and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, or religious affiliation. Interested candidates must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology (e.g., clinical, school) from an APA-accredited program and must have completed an APA-accredited Doctoral internship and dissertation prior to August 1, 2018. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV to Dr. Jennifer Zarcone, Director of Postdoctoral Training at zarcone at kennedykrieger.org<mailto:zarcone at kennedykrieger.org>. Applicants will be notified if they are invited to submit a full application.
