Given the government's decision to rescind DACA, the Latinx Alliance of Lane County is organizing a one-day DACA Renewal Clinic to help those Dreamers renew their DACA and maintain their work authorization for the next two years. The event details are below:
· Date: Saturday September 23rd, 2017
· Time: 8:30am-5pm
· Volunteer arrival time: 8am for those who will have morning or all day shifts.
· Location: Lane ESD, 1200 Highway 99 N. Eugene, OR<https://maps.google.com/?q=1200+Highway+99+N.+Eugene,+OR&entry=gmail&source=g>
*If you know a Dreamer who is interested in attending our event, please let them know to call Centro Latino Americano ((541) 687-2667<tel:(541)%20687-2667>) in order to register for a time to come to the event.*
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Karla Schmidt Murillo by email at karlasm at centrolatinoamericano.org<mailto:karlasm at centrolatinoamericano.org> or by phone at 541-687-2667<tel:(541)%20687-2667>. Volunteer information is explained below:
· Availability: we have availability for volunteers to come morning (8am-12pm), afternoon (12pm-5pm), or all day (8am-5pm). We can be flexible with your schedule so if you can come from 8am-1pm, that is great as well and I will do my best to place you accordingly.
· Please let me know what your availability is when you reach out to me.
· Tasks: when you get in touch with me, please let me know what task you would like to partake in and I will do my best to place you in that position:
· Greeters/Information Table - directs clients to appropriate intake office depending on appointment time or if it is a walk-in.
· Intake Station - sit with clients and verify they are eligible to renew, help fill out portions of renewal application, provide support to attorneys. Once client is done with this section, intake volunteer takes them to attorney to complete application process. (**requires training on Wed 9/20 or Thur 9/21 from 5:30-6:30pm**)
· Runner Station - making photocopies, preparing mailing, etc.
· Financial Support Station - give clients receipt in order for them to claim check at Centro Latino the following week to cover their renewal fee of $495.
· Final Review Station - makes sure all paperwork is complete, envelope has correct address to USCIS, etc.
· Thank You Station - makes sure to capture stories from our clients in an anonymous way to maintain confidentiality of our Dreamers. Dreamers will answer "how does DACA support your dreams?".
· Training: all volunteers participating in Intake Station need to attend a 1 hour training either on Wed 9/20 or Thur 9/21 from 5:30-6:30pm at Lane ESD (1200 Highway 99 N. Eugene, OR<https://maps.google.com/?q=1200+Highway+99+N.+Eugene,+OR&entry=gmail&source=g>).
· If you would like to be at an Intake Station, please let me know which training you will attend.
Thank you for your interest and availability in helping us help our community! We look forward to hearing back from you!
