Subject: Disidentification Research

Dear Dr. McWhirter,

My name is Lucas Hansen and I am currently enrolled in the Psy.D. program at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. I am conducting a research study that has been approved through the St. Thomas IRB (Study # 908810-1), and would greatly appreciate your support in recruiting, by simply sharing this with your respective graduate student populations. The primary goal of this pilot study is to learn how graduate students in mental health think about mental health challenges. No identifiable data will be collected and their participation is voluntary. Below you will find the IRB-approved email distribution text. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thank you in advance for your support.

Hello,

You're invited to participate in a research study about potential client disidentification within graduate student populations. You are receiving this invitation because you are currently enrolled in an APA accredited, doctoral-level psychology program.

The purpose of this study is to better understand disidentification as it relates to mental health providers. Disidentification is when a provider sees the client as being unlike themselves. Disidentification can have an impact on mental health treatment and overall care.
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes of your time, and is mobile device-friendly as well, if using your phone is more convenient for you. You will not be asked for any identifying information, please do not provide any identifiable information in the few text boxes of the survey.

Please use this link to access the survey: https://qtrial2016q1az1.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_emSa8Q286OWjDDv

If you have any questions, please contact Lucas Hansen at Lucas.Hansen at stthomas.edu.

Thank you in advance for your time!
Luke
