Dear NLPA Colleagues,

I’m writing to request your participation in the research of my doctoral student, James Issel. James is interested in exploring the current practices of bilingual (Spanish and English) clinicians and use of interpreters in the therapeutic context. In order to focus on therapy rather than of assessment, James and I revised questions from the 2008 NLPA survey that was conducted by the NLPA Task Force on Testing, Measurements, and Assessment of Latinas/os that I, Eduardo Morales, PhD Chaired, on the administration of psychological assessments with Latino/a participants and given to NLPA members for their participation in this NLPA survey.

As I am sure many of you are aware that Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients are dramatically underserved and an up dated understanding of the nature of this service discrepancy and current practices and use of interpreters by NLPA will be an important contribution.

This survey will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. In order to participate, you must be:

1) at least 18 years old and be able to read and understand English
2) a therapist/clinician who works with Spanish language interpreters and clients and/or
3) a therapist/clinician who is bilingual in Spanish and English and conducts therapy in Spanish with monolingual or bilingual Spanish speaking clients.

This study was approved by the Alliant International University Institutional Review Board (1706074190).

Please access the survey link by Copying and Pasting to this site: https://alliant.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_41kYNxjnVisGutD<https://alliant.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_41kYNxjnVisGutD>

If you have any questions regarding this study, please don’t hesitate to contact James at jissel1 at alliant.edu<mailto:jissel1 at alliant.edu>.

Thank you very much for your interest and willingness to participate!

Please complete the survey by September 1, 2017.

Sincerely,

Eduardo Morales, PhD
