What Boys and Men Can Do to Reduce Domestic Violence:
A Community Dialogue

When: Tuesday, October 24th, 7 to 8:30 pm
Where: The Wesley Center, 2520 Harris Street, Eugene, Oregon 97405
Who should attend: Parents, partners, students, educators, administrators, psychologists/therapists, health care providers, any concerned person of any gender

Sponsored by: The Wesley Center, McKenzie River Men’s Center (MRMC), Center for Community Counseling, Womenspace, & Sexual Assault Support Services

Speakers: Sarah Libby, Community Engagement Specialist, Womenspace, Darin Dorsey, Engaging Allies Coordinator, SASS, Jon Davies, Director, MRMC, Jeff Anthony, Author/Speaker, Don Hildenbrand, Tai Chi Instructor/Consultant & Kyndl Woodlee, Doctoral Student, University of Oregon

Rationale: Domestic violence including sexual assault continues to occur at alarming rates to people of all genders, identities and sexual orientations. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. While most men are not violent, over 90% of sexual assaults and most acts of domestic violence that result in serious injuries, are committed by men. To significantly reduce domestic violence it is crucial that boys and men become more involved.

Objectives: (a) increase awareness of domestic violence, (b) learn what our community needs from males to reduce domestic violence, (c) speak out/mentor others, (d) learn bystander intervention strategies, & (e) make a commitment
