I support all students regardless of immigration status or country of origin. As a member of the UO Dreamers Working Group, I support Dreamer students, promote their sense of belonging and safety as they pursue their higher education goals. Subject: New Therapists of Color Guild

Hi Ellen,

I hope that you are doing well and that Fall term is off to a good start for you.

I am contacting you to announce a newly formed Therapists of Color (TOC) Guild!
In addition to inviting local therapists of color who have completed their graduate training, we are also inviting currently enrolled graduate students in mental health training programs to join the Guild! We are hoping that perhaps some Counseling Psychology faculty members and graduate students will want to participate in the TOC Guild.

During the past several months, myself and other therapists of color have worked towards forming a Therapists of Color (TOC) Guild. The group is for any self-identified, therapists of color across mental health disciplines (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, and Ph.D.) in the local community. We have done some preliminary announcements via LCPA, the UO Counseling and Testing Center, and the HEDCO Clinic. We have had had an encouraging response. So far, 15 therapists have expressed interest in participating. We are wondering if you would be willing to send out an email to Counseling Psychology students and faculty to announce the TOC Guild? If you have any questions, please let me know, I will be happy to explain or clarify.

Several local therapists including Shin Shin Shin Tang Ph.D., Sophia Aguirre,Ph.D., Ron Miyaguchi, Ph.D., Ida Moadab, Ph.D., Asha Stephen, Ph.D., and Brian Parks, Ph.D. have recently formed a Therapists of Color (TOC) Guild. The purpose of the Guild is to provide general support for mental health therapists of color across mental health disciplines (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, and Ph.D.) in the Lane County region. While the goals and the structure of the group are still evolving, we hope that TOC Guild will serve many functions. These functions include a listserv for members to communicate with one
another, opportunities for networking and support (periodic potlucks and meet-ups), and a forum for connection and support among therapists who have a shared identity as people of color. We will have our first Potluck Gathering on either Friday, October 27th or Saturday, October 28th!

Please respond directly to Brian Parks at Brianp2020 at yahoo.com<mailto:Brianp2020 at yahoo.com> if you are interested in the Guild and/or coming to our first Potluck.
also, please forward and share this with other therapists of color who may have an interest in participating.

Respectfully,

Brian Parks, Ph.D.
