Subject: Important-You can help prevent domestic violence

Dear Friend,
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We know that domestic violence continues to occur at alarming rates in our schools, college campuses, the Eugene/Springfield area, our nation and the world. People of all genders and sexual orientations can be survivors of domestic violence, yet women are most likely to experience this violence. While most men are not violent, over 90% of sexual violence and most domestic violence that results in serious injury, is committed by men. Therefore, it is crucial that boys and men become involved in ending domestic violence.

The McKenzie River Men’s Center is partnering with Womenspace, Sexual Assault Support Services, the Wesley Center, and students from the University of Oregon to offer two events:

1. October 10th-What our community needs from boys and men to prevent domestic violence
2. October 24th, What boys and men can do to prevent domestic violence.

Both events are from 7 to 9 pm and will be held at the Wesley Center, 2520 Harris Street, Eugene, 97405.

Your attendance at these events expresses your support to end domestic violence and demonstrates that we, as a community, need boys’ and men to participate in preventing this violence.

Attached is a flyer that provides additional information. See you there!
